Sobriety Test

Better not drink and drive. You won't be able to walk this yellow line! Guess it will still be difficult to get out of Duvall for awhile.......

Is Man in Control?

Here are some photos I took yesterday on my way home from work: Lewis Street Bridge (SR203) heading out of Monroe

Along 203. It was closed, though those who lived no further than High Rock Road (the road we turn off on), could travel home. It was closed to all beyond that point clear to its other end point in Fall City, due to flooding over the roadway.

Farm along 203
Notice they build the barns on berms just for this reason

Valley along 203

Water up to roadway on 203

Half way up our mountain looking down on flooded valley floor

Coming up Lake Fontal Rd towards home

Along our private road

Looking down on Snoqualmie Valley

Christmas Gift

Medical Mysteries

My daughter gave me a gift for Christmas that gives many hours of enjoyment:
The first season of the TV series, House

It is a medical show. Medical mysteries. Not completely accurate, but interesting none-the-less. I never watch TV, so a gift like this is nice. My problem is, I can't restrict myself to watching just one episode at a time. More like 4 at a time. Lack of discipline. So within a few evenings, my husband and I had watched them all! Now I want the second season!

Tagine Cooking

Bethany made us dinner on her last night home. Beef with Beets and Orange Tagine. Very colorful, and muy delicioso! Spicy heat was just right. Served with couscous. Tagine cooking is Moroccan. Love it!

Darrell made a tantalizing pastry for dessert: a sweet yeast bread filled with a raspberry and cream cheese mixture, topped with roasted almonds..........

Farewell.....

This is why you never see me in photos...... I need to be the one taking them! My espouso means well, but using a camera is not his strong suit.

Our daughter left early this morning for 2 years, 3 months to go to Guatemala with the Peace Corps.

She has everything she needs in one suitcase and one backpack. 53 pounds. The Peace Corps requires them to limit their weight to 80 pounds. She travels light. A lot of experience under her belt.

Fare thee well, loved one!

May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be ever at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face and the rain fall softly on your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the hollow of his hand.

Dog's Best Friend

Dogs hate cats, right? Our dog only pretends to hate cats. How do I know? When he thinks he is unobserved, he allows our cats to snuggle up to him. As soon as we open the door or he becomes aware that we see him, he jumps up and nips and chases the cats. He is embarressed, I think!

Here Scout and Bughera warm up side by side on Scout's towel by the fireplace.

Scout is blissfully unaware of me

He hears the click of the camera and wakes up

They scowl at each other

After a nip, Bughera moves off
And don't let it happen again!

The other night, though, Bughera growled and wouldn't move, so Scout removed himself! She thinks that she is the Queen Bee around here.
If animals could speak the dog would be a blundering outspoken fellow, but the cat would have the rare grace of never saying a word too much. ~Mark Twain
