Weekend Get-a-Way

We took a four day weekend for an excursion down to Eagle Creek, OR to visit my dad and my sister and her husband.

I totally enjoyed their new deck and patio area, full of petunias and other flowers!

Such a relaxing atmosphere!

This rose was called something like "Lemons and Oranges" !

First time the vegetable garden needed watering this year!

Here Jodi, Ginny and I soak in their new hot tub :-)
Jodi and her boys came for a visit.

We also went over the Gabe and Kari's house to visit a bit with them and the kids before they head back out to Bolivia (didn't have my camera along, though), as well as stop in at a RV show and a free hotdog lunch Saturday.

Strawberry Chocolate Sunday for supper Sunday evening :o}

We took a leisurely stroll down to the river Sunday evening to help burn some of those decadent calories!

Sunday after church and a delicious lunch at Stone Cliff Restaurant, overlooking the Clackamas River, we stopped at the Clackamas County Lavender Festival near their home.  I did not have my camera with me, so took a picture of a photo of what we saw there.  That is Mt. Hood in the background.  The scenery was stunning!

A big thank-you to Steve, Ginny and Dad for a relaxing and enjoyable weekend, and especially for making sure that the sun shone while we were there ;-)

Summer Read

A fun, colorful book, this is a quick entertaining read for all you summertime bookworms!  CeeCee is a young girl who's mother suffers from a mental illness, which causes her father to stay away from the home as much as possible.  When her mother is killed in an accident while adorning herself in her long-past Miss Vidalia gown and tiara, what will happen to CeeCee?  Find out in this first novel by author Beth Hoffman!

Where does the time go?

From that.....  to this ->

Incredible that so much time has passed since grandson Zach was born!  Now he is ready to go forth and conquer the world........

Good job, Zach!  We are all proud of you :o}

Funnel Cloud

On Saturday June 5 a funnel cloud came near to touchdown closeby our home.  This shot is taken from the west end of Monroe, looking over the prison towards the foothills of the Cascades.  Our house is just a wee bit south of the twister.

After the Rain...... Bridal Veil Falls

Yesterday ChereĆ© and I took a trek up to Bridal Veil Falls again so that we could see it after heavy rains.  The mist from it pounding over the rocks was so high and far reaching that it was impossible to take a picture of the entire falls and not drench the camera.  This is shot from behind the shelter of a tree a bit back.  Quite a bit more water than our hike there last summer.
