Last week.........

These are just one kind of many extraordinary flowers that grow in tropical Hawaii. I thought they would make a wonderful lei. We hiked to a waterfall on the Northshore of Oahou and discovered a vast array of amazing plant life.

Solution to High Gas Prices

With the price of gasoline soaring ever higher day by day, I wish everyone would ride a motorcycle so that we would all be fairly safe on the road. If I bought one, it would be like this blue one with the white-walled tires! This picture was taken in Hawaii. We in the Pacific Northwest would need less rain and cold to fully enjoy being bikers. Did you know it snowed down to 3000 feet last night? The high today was 47 degrees. It is June. Thank God I had the week of sun and warmth in Hawaii to fantasize about.

The Balancing Scale: The Warmth of Hawaii or the Chill of Washington

This is how an old lady looks having fun on a boogie board. This was my favorite beach. Who WOULD want to come back home to a cold, wet and flooding Washington? Not me! But we did come back anyway. Brrrr............

The Beginning

My lovely granddaughter, Miss M, has convinced me to start this blog. My husband and I are currently on vacation in Hawaii, visiting his son and his family. They have been living in Hawaii since March, as Big Scott has been assigned to restore ships at Pearl Harbor for 4 months.

This is Big Scott and his wonderful wife, Mamapua (the Hawaiin name that her family bestowed upon her). Her real name is Nancy. They are playing Adam anf Eve behind the monstrous elephant ear plants that grow wild here. Actually, they have swim suits on, but we won't tell.

This is the entire Kauahi family snorkeling yesterday at Hanauma Bay. We saw so many beautiful kinds of fish! God sure has quite an imagination! Big Scott and Owen also saw a giant squid that changed colors, depending on how disturbed it was by their presence. Nobody ever spotted a sea turtle, much to our disappointment. We all had a great time, though my newly acquired tan got a little sunburned, as I have only been here 5 days.
