And the Winner(s).....

I had 5 individuals comment on one of their favorite childhood memories, and they were fun to read. So thanks! My dear espouso was one of the commenters, and wouldn't you know, his was the name I drew! I knew he would not use the gift I made up, so here is what I decided: I will find another appropriate prize for him, and for the rest of you, I made up a set of these cards as a gesture of thanks! Those gals are mimamama, Beth and Nancy. Amberlynne, due to the cost of sending packages to you, I think I will count the pumpkin seeds I put in the tube with the ferns as your prize :-) Did you ever receive it?

Fantastic Weekend

This past weekend brought my sister and two of her daughters and one granddaughter here for a fun visit! Her daughter Kari (who was here 2 weekends ago with her family) stayed home with the swine flu. The entire family came down with it shortly after their visit here. Jodi also elected to not make the trip from Oregon. Along with my DIL Bethany and friend Krystle, we all busily crafted Christmas cards, tags and gift boxes.

Ginny and Molly

..... my boys, Ryan and Scott, joined us for dinners and some visiting-with-cousins time! And yes, that is Scott you see helping Lela finish a project! Ryan even made a couple of cool items :-)

The star of the weekend was, of course, baby Megan, whose adoption was finalized in the courts on Friday! She is 6 months old now, but Lela and her husband were able to be there for her birth as well as take her home from the hospital!

She has cute little ladybug pajama feet, and the smallest pair of mittens I have ever seen!

There was plenty of time for hugging and kissing on her, as well as enjoying apple cider with some of that delicious pumpkin biscotti :-)

Thanks to all of you for making it a wonderful weekend! That includes my terrific husband who made some fantastic meals for us, and did all of the KP duty to boot!

Lazy Sunday Afternoon

Home from church and my husband in the kitchen willingly preparing a nice Sunday dinner, what better time for me to kick around trying out some fun cards and crafts on my new QuicKutz Silhouette Digital Craft Cutter?
Cards

Gift Boxes

Pillow Boxes

Ornaments

Favor Bags
Maybe we can whip us up some of these next weekend, too, when my sister and her girls come up? Maybe a few ideas for some classroom crafts for the teachers in the family? Hmmmm. I had a lazy, good time :-)

Oils and Photos

The final art project with Miss M is completed! We painted a canvas with oil paints, printed off a photo, sealed it and varnished it to the canvas. Painted one frame; left the other natural.

Miss M's Art Trading Cards

Mamapua blogged Miss Livi's Art Trading Cards today on her blog: www.kauahifamilyinhawaii.blogspot.com Here are Miss M's ATC's she is working on, with oil paints. We are under the gun to have them dried and in the mail tomorrow, but she will make it!!! The art work of both girls is amazing to me!
Miss M also has one going to and coming from Spain, just like Miss Livi. What a terrific mother they have that finds so many incredible opportunities for her kids!

I take photographs with love, so I try to make them art objects. But I make them for myself first and foremost - that is important.

Glass Blowing

Our son, Ryan, received a Christmas gift from his brother and SIL (Scott and Bethany L) of going to do a glass blowing project. With their niece Micaela here, this weekend was the perfect time for the four of them to try it out!

It involved the fine art of blowing air, and sucking air in..........

Micaela's finished bowl
Glassblowing Definition: The art and process of creating glass objects, by shaping glass when reduced by heat to a viscid state, using various manipulations with the hands, especially by inflating it by blowing through a tube. The process is used to manufacture a wide variety of useful and ornamental objects. The manufacture of simple glass objects has been automated, but complex glass objects are still made by the traditional hand processes.
