After the Rain...... Bridal Veil Falls
Yesterday Chereé and I took a trek up to Bridal Veil Falls again so that we could see it after heavy rains. The mist from it pounding over the rocks was so high and far reaching that it was impossible to take a picture of the entire falls and not drench the camera. This is shot from behind the shelter of a tree a bit back. Quite a bit more water than our hike there last summer.

March Hike
A beautiful day today. My friend Chereé and I took a little hike to Barclay Lake again.
Barclay Lake sits at the base of Mt. Baring.

Mount Baker
This is just an experiment to see how Animoto works with blogger. It is from the summer of 2006 on a hike at Mt. Baker. This day holds one of my favorite-day memories with my family :o) Just click on the words "Mt. Baker" to link you to the short video clip:

Winter Hike
Friday morning my son, Ryan, and I took a hike up to Wallace Falls. Well, more accurately, I took a rather strenuous hike while Ryan took a leisurely walk, or so it seemed. I thought is was pretty steep. He was never winded, as was I. He was a good sport about waiting up for his old mama :o}

The lower falls
Middle Falls shot from Lower Falls
And no, I did not make it to the Upper Falls, though Ryan went up a bit more without me.

Summer's End Goal - Accomplished!
On our first hike in May of this summer's season, Chereé and I made it our goal to hike to Lake Serene by the end of summer. I will let you double click on this first picture so you can read the description of this "strenuous" hike.
In June we hiked to Bridal Veil Falls, which also goes along this same trail. What we saw on that hike was a middle portion of the multiple falls.
This time, the trail to the lake took us to, and actually across, the lowest portion of the falls.
The cliff drop-offs for the falls are pretty spectacular!

The steep trail is composed of many, many rocks......
....... and steps made from rocks..........
.....and a mixture of rocks and wooden steps....
This is the only break we took on the 3+ hour hike up.
Get the picture of the workout our legs received?!?!
At the top, the view of the valley towards the pass is something else!
